Volunteerism
The FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association (FBISDCAAA) engages in volunteerism through various community outreach programs, such as its partnership with Rady Children's Hospital, support for elder fraud prevention, and participation in community events. Alumni are eligible to volunteer for events and activities, which include helping at information booths, mentoring students, and participating in fundraising. This commitment to community engagement was recognized when the organization was named a Gold Star Chapter in 2025 for its excellence in outreach.
Examples of FBISDCAAA volunteerism:
- Community Outreach: Volunteers support the FBI's outreach mission by helping at community events like the La Mesa Safety Fair and the MCAS Miramar Air Show.
- Teen Academy: Alumni volunteer to mentor and provide career guidance to high school students who attend the FBI's Teen Academy.
- Elder Fraud Prevention: A key initiative of the association is to increase awareness and help prevent elder fraud through a dedicated program.
- Victim Assistance: The association supports the community by contributing to programs like the Victim Assistance Project.
- Support for Rady Children's Hospital: Through membership dues and volunteer efforts, the FBISDCAAA supports the hospital's efforts to provide comfort to patients, such as contributing teddy bears for children.
