FBI Citizens Academy Graduation

FBI Citizens Academy Graduation, Tuesday, May 1

This year’s Citizens Academy class was vibrant and engaging. The class began with an introduction to the FBI from SAC John Brown and a presentation from US Attorney Adam Braverman and ended with a presentation on a recent murder case.  In between, the class was exposed to the Intelligence Program, Counter-terrorism, Cyber Crimes, Counterintelligence, an Active Shooter Program, Crimes Against Children including Human Trafficking, Evidence Collection, and – of course – Range Day. NBC 7 San Diego anchor Megan Tevrizian said “The FBI Citizens’ Academy is a great opportunity to see what really happens behind the scenes – I’m loving the course! It’s not only made me a better citizen, but also a better reporter.”

Graduation was held at the Admiral Kidd Club with a beautiful view of Downtown San Diego and the bay.  It was a nice opportunity for the class to reminisce about the Academy and learn about opportunities available by joining the Alumni Association. FBI Special Agent in Charge John Brown presented a certificate to each graduate in attendance and said, “ I want to thank our recent group of community leaders for their time and commitment during the Spring 2018  San Diego FBI Citizens Academy program. Community partnerships are key to the success of the FBI mission—protecting the American people. The partnerships built through the San Diego FBI Citizens Academy is a striking example of the importance of connections with a diverse panel of leaders in our community.  The better we know our communities, the better we can protect them. By participating in the program and bringing the information forward, they are making a difference in keeping America safe.”
