Elder Fraud
One of the FBISDCAAA’s strategic goals for 2022 relates to increasing awareness of and reporting instances of elder fraud, while working to prevent seniors falling victims to these scams in the first place. Learn more about elder fraud, how to prevent and report instances of fraud.
Victim Assistance Project
In November 2019, the FBISDCAAA announced a new Victim Assistance Project to bridge the gap between accessing available victim support goods and services and meeting the critical needs of victims in exigent circumstances. Board member Elizabeth Cox appeared on KUSI to highlight the project.
FBISDCAAA Collaborates with American Red Cross
In October 2018, the American National Red Cross and FBI National Citizens Academy Alumni Association announced a new collaboration through a letter of cooperation to engage FBI Citizens Academy alumni in Red Cross lines of service (e.g., disaster, blood service, emergency preparedness, health and safety, and service to the armed forces).

FBI San Diego Citizens Academy – In the News
In February 2019, CBS 8 reporter Marcella Lee interviewed the senior team leader of the Evidence Response Team (ERT), Agent Dudley, and our very own Community Outreach Specialist Yadira Dickey for a story highlighting the Citizens Academy. “Our goal is to increase awareness in the community. We’re real people, trying to keep people safe,” said Yadira Dickey, Outreach Specialist at the FBI’s San Diego Field Office.
In March 2019, the FBISDCAAA co-sponsored “FBI Women Behind the Badge”, an informational event that was free and open to the public. FBI Special Agent Davene Butler appeared on KUSI’s Good Morning San Diego in celebration of Women’s history month and shared information about the first women to join the FBI.
